Theodore Perl, M.D.
Theodore Perl, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty fellowship training in corneal and refractive surgery. After completing his Doctor of Medicine degree at the Chicago Medical School, Dr. Perl completed an ophthalmology residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center, and graduate training at Harvard Medical School. He completed a two-year fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Perl has published numerous articles, co-authored chapters in books, and lectured nationally and internationally at many professional conferences on corneal and refractive problems.
Dr. Perl's practice is limited to the treatment of external ocular diseases, refractive surgery and cornea transplant surgery. He has performed over 11,000 corneal and refractive procedures since 1980. He has been named one of New Jersey's "Top Docs" by New Jersey Monthly Magazine and VISX Inc. has named Dr. Perl one of their "Star Surgeons," placing him in the top 5% of high-volume LASIK surgeons nationwide.
One of Dr. Perl's hobbies is aviation. He has been flying for 35 years. He is an instrument rated commercial pilot who flies his King Air to professional meetings and seminars.
E. Lillian Cheng, M.D.
E. Lillian Cheng M.D., a board certified ophthalmologist, joined the practice as an associate after completing her Cornea Fellowship at Corneal Associates of New Jersey in June 2008.
Prior to her fellowship, Dr. Cheng was the Chief Resident in Ophthalmology at John Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois. She earned her medical degree at Chicago Medical School and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Art History from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
Dr. Cheng is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, as well as the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Cheng is fluent Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. Along with corneal transplants and laser vision correction, including LASIK, Dr. Cheng also specializes in cataract surgery and premium lens implants.
Steven Sorkin, O.D.
Steven Sorkin, O.D., graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry. He completed an externship in ocular disease at OMNI Eye Services in Atlanta, Georgia and a primary care optometry externship at Walson Air Force Hospital in Fort Dix, New Jersey.
He has received multiple clinical honors and has participated in many contact lens related studies. He has lectured extensively on contact lenses, dry eyes, and allergies. Dr. Sorkin has a special interest in difficult-to-fit contact lens patients (such as those with keratoconus) and post surgical cases.
Dr. Sorkin is a member of the American Optometric Association. He currently serves as president of the Essex County Optometric Society and is a member of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians. License number OA005519/OM00160.
